Ordination and Consecration

Ordination/Consecration

All workers newly licensed in the  District are considered "provisional workers" and will begin one of three processes:  1) ordination or consecration, 2) sustaining of previous ordination, or 3) church ministry worker license.  There are specific assignments required for each, please contact the District Office for more information on the requirements for each process. Most workers will complete ordination, which is a 3 year process.  The Ordination/Consecration Manual contains a list of required assignments (see Downloads).

CO Retreat (Year 1 & 2 Requirement)

Each ordinand and consecrant is required to attend 2 consecutive CO Retreats.  This retreat is a good opportunity to interact with other ordinands and consecrants in the process along with district leaders and members of the Licensing, Ordination and Consecration Council.  Seminars are designed to help the ordinand and consecrant complete their requirements.

This year's CO Retreat is scheduled for November 16-17.  More information to come at a later date.

Alliance Polity Course (Year 1 Requirement for Ordination or Sustaining an Ordination)

The Alliance Polity Course is for candidates in the first year of ordination/consecration who have not graduated from an Alliance institution or Alliance graduates who have not taken a formal course in Alliance Polity.  The Alliance Polity Course imparts the vision and core values of The Alliance, and familiarizes new workers with the significance and history of The Alliance to the worldwide Christian movement.

Registration is now open for the new Alliance Polity course.  The course consists of two 10-week "cohorts," Part One and Part Two, for a total of 20 weeks.  Students register and pay for each cohort separately.  The new structure provides an evaluator who grades the student's assignments rather than requiring the district mentor to fill this role.  Classes are limited to 10 students in each cohort.  More information is available on the new CMAllianceU site, www.cmallianceu.org, under Programs>Certificate Courses.

Here are the scheduled upcoming cohorts:

How to enroll:

To enroll, go to www.CMAllianceU.org and create an account by clicking "Sign Up" at the top of the screen.  You will be asked to create a secure account, including a CMAllianceU ID (username) and password.  Then, on the Alliance Polity Course page, simply click on "Enroll Now."  Once you choose the cohort and complete the enrollment, you will receive a confirmation email.

Alliance Strategies in Missions (Year 3 Requirement)

The Uniform Policy of the C&MA Manual requires candidates for ordination and consecration to demonstrate awareness of Alliance missions objectives and methods by completing a course of study as approved by the district superintendent and LOCC. Candidates may meet the requirement by successfully completing the 10-week online Alliance Strategies in Mission course provided by the National Office.

Alliance Strategies is also hosted on the new site, www.CMAllianceU.org, and the enrollment process is the same as the Alliance Polity Course: create an account and then click on "Enroll Now" in the Alliance Strategies in Mission section.

Here are the dates for the upcoming sections of the course:

- February 4 - April 14, 2018
- May 6 - July 14, 2018
- September 2 - November 10, 2018 (not yet available for enrollment)
- December 2 - February 16, 2018 (not yet available for enrollment)
